The Anzar boy basketball team (1-7, 0-2 MTAL) lost 40-33 against
Gonzales on Saturday.
Sam Stewert led the Hawks with eight points. Aaron Pinero had
seven, and Brett Ramos had six.

“We gave ourselves a chance to win in the fourth quarter,” said Anzar coach Ed Cecena. “I was real happy with the effort, and the energy level was really good. We are improving. It was a step forward for us.”
The Hawks will play against Soledad on Wednesday then will travel to Greenfield on Friday.
