San Benito Health Foundation started their celebration of National Health Center Week, which runs Aug. 7-13, with a breastfeeding awareness walk Aug. 10, as well as a health fair and a community open house.

On Thursday, the agency observed Farm Worker Health Day.

In a press release, from the foundation, it said “During this time, local communities across the nation will recognize the contribution of migrant, homeless and public housing centers that promote health and prevention.”

San Benito Health Foundation clinics are open to residents regardless of the ability to pay. The center offers nutrition and breastfeeding counseling to pregnant women and children up to age 5 through the Women, Infant and Children program. They also offer medical and dental primary care services, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, family planning, pediatrics, immunizations, health screening, medication assistance, health education and outreach, and HIV/Aids testing.

The providers include Dr. Thanapathy, chief medical officer and ob/gyn; Dr. Clark, pediatrician; Rose Marie Sandoval, family practice; and Dr. Acosta, the dental director.

The health fair and breastfeeding awareness walk was Aug. 10, with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. The open house, with provided refreshments, was 4 to 7 p.m.
