The Hollister Heat 12-and under ‘B’ travel softball team commenced play this morning in the ASA ‘B’ Western National’s in Roseville. The Heat met the Central Grizzlies of Fresno this morning at 11 a.m. at Maidu Field. Win or lose, the Heat play at 9 a.m. on Wednesday against a foe to be determined.

The rest of the Heat’s four-team pool consists of the Jinx of Oakland and Five Cities out of Loomis.

“I like our draw so far,” said Heat manager Todd Freitas, who reported the temperature in Roseville at about 100-degrees Monday afternoon. “It’s all of a 100.”

The Heat 14-and under ‘A’ travel team was eliminated from the NSA ‘A’ Western National’s early Friday morning in Modesto, losing to the California Grapettes 9-1. The Heat finished with a record of 4-2. Kris Haggard had a double in the loss.

“I wasn’t too happy with our first round game,” said Heat manager Steve Grimsley. “We went 2-0 in our pool and were supposed to play a team that was 0-2. We ended up playing a team which was 1-1.”

That was the Mystix of Fresno, which dealt the Heat its first loss 6-5.
