Dear Editor,
We return to our daily life this week after what was hopefully a joy-filled holiday season for all, to find that once again we have lost one of our precious young citizens.
The Baxter family and the community as a whole tragically lost Adam over the weekend to a terrible auto accident. Having lost one of my own children I understand what the family is suffering and that it is a hurt that will never go away. Not having lost my child in an auto accident I cannot even begin to comprehend what that must be like.
Hopefully all of this community will pray for the Baxter family. At the same time I challenge every adult in this community to turn to every family member, young acquaintance and even to reach out to the friends of friends. Let them know that they can honor the memory of all of the youngsters and friends that we have lost on our roads by caring for themselves and for each other. Let them know if they find themselves in a situation where they know it is unsafe for them to drive or get into a car with another that they can call on their “older friends” no matter what time of day or night and that we will make every effort to get them home safely.
God Bless you Adam, I was always impressed with the young man that always greeted me with a smile and a handshake. My family and I will dearly miss you and our prayers are with your family.
