In the championship game, Hollister faced the Folsom Aftershocks for the third time during the tournament.

Kelly Bambrick threw a no-hitter in the five innings as the Heat won 10-3 in the shortened game. Catcher Brigette Amidon made two nice catches behind the plate to stop early rallies. But the Aftershocks still jumped ahead 2-0.

In the third inning, Elizabeth Burley, who was 5-for-7 for the weekend, came in off the bench and knocked in a run. Another run also scored on the play to put the Heat up 4-3, a lead Hollister wouldn’t give up.

LeNae Stevens put down a strong bunt in the fifth inning to get another rally started. Mari Vallejo got a walk and Jessica Steigelman had a basehit to score two. Megan Flores hit a long ball over the left fielder’s head to end the game.

In the first game of the tournament against the Strikers, Hollister won 9-2.

In the second inning, Brittani Newman hit in two runs to put the Heat up 4-1. Kelly Bambrick pitched the complete game and struck out 10.

In the second game against the Aftershocks, Hollister lost 5-0.

Steigelman gave up just one hit, but walks accounted for most of the runs. Hollister didn’t have any hits in the games.

But Hollister came back big in the third game against the Strikers. In just two innings, Hollister built up a 23-1 lead.

Taylor Fabing didn’t give up any hits in the shortened game, while offensively the Heat pounded out 15 hits. Vallejo and Stevens both went 3 for 3.

In the semifinals against Folsom, Morgan Daleo gave up one hit in the three innings to help the Heat win 11-1.

The Heat, managed by Robert Burley, finished their season with a record of 27-22-1.
