Hollister – Marcus Sabatte of Hollister Little League’s American 11-year old All-Star team sure knows how to get a game started.

Sabatte was the lead-off man in Friday’s game against Hartnell at Veteran’s Memorial Park as the Hollister team was playing the role of visitor. Sabatte worked Hartnell starter Jordan Villaneda into a three-and-one count and looked to be in line for a walk to start things off.

But he had other plans.

Rather than look for the walk, Sabatte unloaded on the fifth pitch of the game, sending a deep fly over the fence in center to get his team rolling en route to an 11-1 victory over Hartnell.

Hollister put on a virtual hitting clinic on Friday and they added another two runs in the game’s second inning. Skyler Shaw-Fuss popped one straight up in the air with one out in the second but the Hartnell catcher couldn’t handle the play and Shaw-Fuss reached safely. Tyler Pina was up next and he drilled a shot into the fence in right field for a double that moved Shaw-Fuss to third.

Sabatte made his way to the plate next and he took a pitch into the outfield to score both Shaw-Fuss and Pina, making the score 3-0.

But Sabatte wasn’t the only Hollister batter to plate some runs on Friday.

Dustin Rovella led off the third in the same way that Sabatte led off the first, by cranking a solo shot over the fence, making it 4-0.

Tanner Carillo earned a walk as Hollister’s next batter and was quickly moved over when Blake Selsor singled to left field.

Chris Beisingef came in to pitch for Hartnell at that point and struck out the first batter he faced. But Pina came up with another big hit, a triple right into the fence in right field to score both Selsor and Carillo.

Pina would come across on a passed ball with Sabatte at the plate to make it 7-0.

Hollister piled on four more runs in the fourth to put the contest out of reach. Carillo came up with a one-out double on a hard-hit line drive down the first base line before easily scoring on a triple from teammate Ryan DiSalvo.

Tyler Quinby was up next and he nailed a double into the fence in center to plate DiSalvo.

Quinby took third on a fielders choice moments later and then, with two outs on the board, Pina smacked one down the first base line to bring him across.

Another hard-hit ball into the fence in center by Craig Slibsager scored Pina to cap the scoring.
