The Hollister Police Department has promoted a new lieutenant who’s been with the agency for more than two decades.
The HPD announced Sgt. Dan Winn as the newest lieutenant. The position follows chief and captain on the chain of command.
According to the announcement from the police department:
On Thursday, Sgt. Dan Winn was sworn in as the newest Lieutenant at the Hollister Police Department. The oath was administered by Assistant City Clerk Christine Black.
The ceremony was attended by family, friends, coworkers and members of surrounding agencies.
Dan Winn has been an officer with the Hollister Police Department for over 20 years. He started working as an animal control officer prior to becoming an officer in 1995. He has worked as a Field Training Officer, a Hostage Negotiator, a Peer Counselor and as a Crime Prevention Officer; which included Neighborhood Watch, DARE and Community Outreach.
Dan was promoted to Sergeant in 2002 and most recently worked as the Detective Sergeant and the Training Sergeant as well as the Public Information Officer at the police department.
Lt. Winn has been instrumental in running the intelligence operation at the department during the motorcycle rallies and has been a vital part in the department achieving national attention and awards for the public safety operation of the rally.
The department will like to congratulate Lt. Dan Winn for this well-deserved achievement in his long career in public safety.
