Hollister’s Radio Shack is not among up to 1,100 stores nationwide facing closure by the company.
Radio Shack Corp. on Tuesday announced its plans to close up to 1,100 underperforming stores due to financial difficulties. Hollister’s Radio Shack, however, is a franchise store. Those stores are excluded from the massive number of closures for corporate stores.
With the closures, the struggling electronics retailer would have about 4,000 store sites remaining in the U.S., including 900 dealer franchises, according to the company announcement included with its fourth quarter earnings report.
Hollister Radio Shack owner Gilbert Perez on Tuesday underscored how he owns and operates a franchise store, and that the closures are related to underperforming corporate sites.
