the Aromas School’s eighth-grade girls basketball team ran the
table through the year-end league tournament, and recently finished
with a flawless 10-0 record in the San Benito Athletic League.

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA

After compiling a perfect 7-0 record through the regular season, the Aromas School’s eighth-grade girls basketball team ran the table through the year-end league tournament, and recently finished with a flawless 10-0 record in the San Benito Athletic League.

Coached by Aaron Netzel, who formerly coached the Anzar High girls basketball team in San Juan Bautista, Aromas defeated its 10 opponents this past season by a combined margin of 296-93.

The team defeated Pacific West 37-4 to open the season on Nov. 16, then topped Sacred Heart 20-15, San Juan 34-8, Oakwood 32-6, Spring Grove 14-13, San Juan again 36-6 and the Charter School of Morgan Hill 30-2.

In the league tournament, Aromas then defeated San Juan a third time by a 34-16 margin and Spring Grove again 27-21. On Dec. 13, the eighth-grade team ensured a perfect record and a first-place finish when it upended Southside 32-2.

Assisted by Liliana Resendez, the team includes Leslie Martinez, Katie VanWickler, Bianca Rocha, Alexis Froistad, Jessica Tidwell, Celeste Jauregui, Katie Bellone, BreAnn Scally and Lynette Weckerle.
