defeated the host Warriors by a 57-34 margin in Coastal Athletic
League play.

Despite getting contributions from just three different scorers, the Anzar boys’ basketball team was able to avenge a loss earlier this season to Anchorpoint Christian on Thursday night when it defeated the host Warriors by a 57-34 margin in Coastal Athletic League play.

Jesse Ramirez, Nick Salgado and Andres Gomez combined for all 57 points for Anzar, which improves to 7-3 in the CAL, 8-9 overall. Salgado led all scorers with 28 points, while Ramirez added 23 points and Gomez chimed in with six.

“We had a real good first half of shooting tonight … and a real good second quarter,” said Anzar head coach Ed Cecena, whose Hawks led 18-13 after one quarter, 35-18 at halftime.

“We opened up a lead and pretty much hung on after that,” Cecena said.

Anzar previously lost to Anchorpoint Christian on Jan. 18 by a 58-50 margin.

The Hawks will play York next in San Juan Bautista. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
