Jason Hopkins, a candidate in Trustee Area 7 for the Gavilan Community College Joint District Board of Trustees, has withdrawn from the race, citing “personal and health reasons.”
Hopkins, however, will still appear on the Nov. 6 ballot and told the Free Lance that he would accept the office if he happened to still win the seat.
“I’m not campaigning anymore,” said Hopkins, whose decision to withdraw came too late to have his name removed from the ballot. “I’d take the job (if elected).”
Hopkins, a 37-year-old independent sales representative, was the youngest of the three Gavilan hopefuls for Trustee Area 7.
The two remaining candidates are Michael Alcorn, a 56-year-old IT Project Manager & Business Analyst, and 60-year-old Irma C. Gonzalez, a website designer.
