Hollister Police Officers released a surveillance photo of the alleged suspect in an armed robbery Wednesday at Hollister Super Market.

Hollister police officers responded to an armed robbery Wednesday morning at Hollister Super Market, at 211 Third St., in Hollister.

According to a press release, witnesses reported a masked male suspect armed with a handgun entered the store before business hours. They reported the incident to Santa Cruz 911. The alleged suspect came through the front door, which was unlocked for delivery drivers entering the business. The suspect is said to have approached an employee and pointed a handgun demanding money. The employee gave him money from a nearby safe and cash register after which the suspect ran out the front door. Staff members said they chased the suspect who turned and threatened them with the gun. The alleged suspect fled southbound on East Street.

The alleged suspect was described as an Hispanic male with a black beard between 5’ and 5’2 tall with a heavyset build. He was seen loitering in the parking lot before the incident. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and was armed with a silver handgun.
