Second Harvest Food Bank distributes more food to more than
43,000 people a month through 160 agencies and programs, including
Community Pantry in Hollister.
Their next event will be June 7th, a Dining Out, Helping Out
fund-raiser in which local restaurant owners donate a portion of

Dad and daughter duo do well
HOLLISTER – Vern Simmons was one of Team Penning Champions at the Los Paseos De Los Rancheros trail ride held at the RS Bare Ranch in San Benito County last month. One of many rodeo events co-sponsored by the Monterey County Cattleman’s Association and the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, proceeds from the trail ride and events will help the foundation raise funds for the new level III neonatal intensive care unit at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
On the same day, Samantha Simmons, 8, holds a buckle that she won at the event. She also received a blue belt in Tai Kwon Do studies from the Hollister Martial Arts Academy.
