Calling all Tigers

HOLLISTER – Spring Grove School is launching its first Tiger Summer Camp.

The day camp will offer a variety of academic and enrichment summer sessions, covering ceramics, art, French, computers and sports camp. Breakfast and lunch are included in the cost of the program.

Chamberlain’s looks for new board members

HOLLISTER – The Chamberlain’s Children Center is looking for community members to join the Board of Directors of the nonprofit. The children center provides social, mental health and educational services for abused children who have not succeeded in normal foster-care settings.

The residential treatment program in Hollister serves up to 24 boys and girls ages 6 to 17. The nonprofit also has a facility in Gilroy, Chamberlain’s Day Center, which provides counseling services to children and their families in a non-residential setting.

The Board of Directors meet once a month, usually on the second Tuesday of the month from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., at 1850 San Benito St., in Hollister. For more information or for an application, contact Doreen Crumrine at 636-2121 or by e-mail at doreen@chamberlain.

Club Ed has tutors available

HOLLISTER – Club Ed of San Benito High School has private tutors available for all grades, K-12, at the San Benito High School Library. Tutoring is $13 an hour. Call Rachel Flores at 637-5831 ext. 30 for more information.

San Juan Bautista Historical Society meets

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA – The Historical Society will meet at 11 a.m. with the annual meeting to convene at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be ordered at noon, and after lunch, visitors can sit on the “liars’ bench” and tell stories.

Mental Health awareness month

HOLLISTER – The San Benito County Behavioral Health Department staff is sponsoring an event for Mental Health Awareness Month.

All residents are invited Wednesday, May 28 to an Open House at Esperanza Center from noon to 5 p.m. where the stories and struggles of local residents will be highlighted.

Low-cost spay/neuter coupons back

HOLLISTER – An anonymous donor to Pet Friends has allowed them to continue their Spay/Neuter program.

Discount coupons are available for $20 to neuter a cat, $35 for spaying or $40 for dogs. The group will also provide coupons for $30 to spay or neuter feral cats as part of a trap/neuter/release program.
