James R. Dobbs entered into rest in Hollister at the age of 77. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas and lived in the Salinas area for many years, moving to Hollister two years ago. He was a retail clerk for many years and past president of his local union where he became the business agent for many years. He married his wife, Joice Dobbs, in 1957 in Salinas and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In the Air Force he was an interpreter in the Russian language and was a member of The First Baptist Church in Prunedale and a past member of the IOOF Lodge in Pacific Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Joice Dobbs of Hollister, his son, Kelly Dobbs of Capitola and his son, Gordon Dobbs and his wife April of Hollister, his grandsons, Christopher Dobbs and Ian Dobbs and his great granddaughter, Cherish Marie Dobbs.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 7th and Monterey Streets in Hollister. Interment will follow the services at the IOOF Cemetery in Hollister.
Donations are preferred to Chamberlain Children’s Center or The Multiple Sclerosis Society, c/o the funeral home.
