I know I’ve discussed how to judge distance before. But people still don’t seem to understand.

I was recently playing with a group of friends. We arrived at a par-3 that measures 148 yards.

My partner stepped up with his usual 148-yard club.

I pointed out that the tee markers were five yards behind the official NCGA marker and that the pin was at least ten yards back of the center of the green.

There was also a wind blowing in our face.

All those factors added about two more clubs to his shot. Now it was his turn to be amazed.

If you want to score better, think before you pull a club out of the bag. The yardage markers are merely a guide.

You also have to factor in all of the outside influences before you hit the shot.

For more more help on improving your scores, see your local PGA or LPGA golf instructor.
