Seaside 7-0
HOLLISTER

Shooting for their 18th victory in 19 matches dating back to last season, the San Benito girls tennis team was able to take advantage of a small Seaside squad Tuesday, as they earned their third win of the season, 7-0.

Seaside brought just six players to the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister, and were forced to forfeit their No. 3 and No. 4 doubles teams as a result.

Although sticking with his top two singles players, Haybaler coach Ed Cecena was given the chance to play up some of his junior varsity players at the varsity level. With a clean sweep of the visiting Spartans, those called up to play varsity Tuesday stepped into the spotlight.

No. 3 singles player Kristina Slavic won in straight sets over Meriam Kanaka, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 4 singles player Danielle Dube defeated Michelle Ho 6-3, 6-1.

San Benito’s top two singles players, No. 1 Amanda Marshall and No. 2 Abbie Woods, marched past Corina Reyes and Keri Moon 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively.

In doubles, the lone match also went in San Benito’s favor, as Jessica Vest and Erin Glasspool teamed up to beat Marie Jarman and Mariah Rivo 6-0, 6-0.

San Benito (3-0) will host Morgan Hill’s Live Oak on Thursday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister at 3:30 p.m.
