Former Hazel Hawkins Worker Says Keep Up the Good Work
Editor,
Glad to see Hazel Hawkins progressing. They have always been very active in trying to stay current. Money has always been the limiting factor. I worked there 18 years ago and they had picture IDs & “swipe” time cards. All this was two years before Salinas Valley Memorial came into compliance. Great place to work and some of the best doctors available. Some disgruntled family members have related tales to me (with nothing substantive as the cause) because their loved one died there. They had to die somewhere. Sorry.
I see people on life support for months with no hope. Generating dollars and there is no hope. Where’s the benefit in that? There are no family members hanging around. Maybe this is out of line, but if I wound up in HHH in such bad condition that life would not be enjoyable for my remaining years … well, you get the picture. No heroics here.
Very glad to see the article on the new CT scanner refer to the operators of the high-tech scanner as technologist and not technicians. No hospital in California employs a radiologic technician. They don’t have a college degree. Even doctors don’t get that right. Just ignorance.
Incidentally, I left Triple H for more excitement. Boy, do I get it now! Still miss the crew at Triple H. They were/are good. Been back as an ER patient twice. Both serious. Doctor Slater is the best if you ever try to cut your knee off with a broken toilet bowl!

Hollister In Black Returns
Editor,
It was about 20 years ago when the Women-in-Black protest movement started. It consisted of Palestine women in their black habits protesting the Israeli occupation of the Jordanian “West Bank” territory.
It was about four years ago when the Hollister cell, Hollister-in-Black, first appeared. For the last several months, Hollister-in-Black has moved from corner to corner throughout Hollister.
On Friday, July 14, there was a single Hollister-in-Black individual back on the corner of San Benito Street and Fourth Street. This individual sported the green, white, black, and red Palestine flag.
The May 1 rally for illegal aliens sported mainly American flags with a few Mexican flags. This may be the first demonstration with a Palestine flag in Hollister.
