District should cut admin salaries, not sports
I was outraged when I received a letter from the Hollister school district regarding after-school athletics. Gary McIntire mentioned all expenditures will be reviewed at the “highest” level. This is a complete and total lie. If they were serious, they would look at expenditures starting at the top. The first place to look is imposing a cap of maximum benefits anyone can receive no matter the salary.
What this means is that Gary and Tim Foley (retired) and the rest should be receiving a cut in pay and retirement benefits as well as a mandatory minimum retirement age. All the cuts can come from anyone above a teacher and all current benefits paid to retirees who are not above 65 and above say 60,000/yr in retirement must be renegotiated immediately. Of course the union will complain it is not constitutional, but absolutely no one has been negotiating on behalf of taxpayers and kids. I am so completely sick and tired of hearing it’s for the kids.
If it was really about the kids, everyone would be addressing their outrageous salaries and benefits of employees above the grade of teacher and support staff such as janitors, cleaning staff, lunch staff and groundskeepers. In other words, the people who are necessary for the school to function. Combine the school districts, get rid of the duplication, lower your outrageous salary, increase your retirement age, lower your retirement and quit the lies. Don’t just review expenditures, Actually cut them. I am so sick and tired of hearing about how difficult it is, yet the very people telling us this suffer the least, if at all. They are laughing all the way to the bank while us stupid taxpayers do nothing expect vote in yet more government, just like last Tuesday. What a complete and total joke.
Do I expect any real change from Gary? Of course not. Do I expect things to get worse? Yes. The current government system and those who populate it have absolutely no fiscal accountability and the voting taxpayer has no concept either. That can only spell doom. Void the retirement packages of government employees immediately who “care” so much for the kids.
