Praise for retired engineer
While reading in the last Pinnacle of the month, I came to an
article about Roger Grimsley retiring. If there is somebody who
deserves it, he is the one. In my opinion, this man is going to be
missed. This is a guy who has done everything to help people
accomplish their goals in a conservative way.
As a great engineer, he always figured things in a way to save
money for his customers without jeopardizing or causing any
problems with the structures. Great engineer and smooth talker. He
has the knowledge to get in and out without getting too nervous.
Great sense of humor. Great friend.
I have known Roger and his wife Toni for many years. Many times
I have stopped in their office just to say hello. It didn’t matter
how busy they were, they always had time to chat with me. Politics
was always one of the topics. Both grew up in this area. I have
seen in them the love for this community. This man can do anything
to see county and city heading in the right direction.
With all the years of experience, he still has lots to offer. I
feel county and city should use Roger as a consultant. It would be
a big waste if they don’t. He has vision, knowledge, experience and
ideas. A man with his knowledge should not be ignored. I am sure he
will be glad to answer if they ask. Sorry, Roger, I am not trying
to find you a job, but I know with the great heart you wouldn’t
mind answering.
And for Toni, I would like to thank you for the times I stopped
there. Your kindness and always with a great smile. Good luck to
both of you. Many years of health in your retirement. I wasn’t
asked to write this letter. I wrote it from my heart with what I
feel about both of you. Bless you and all your family.

Healthcare’s hollow handshake

A “handshake” can mean so much. That’s what drew me to your featured healthcare piece. I was hoping for credibility from Bush but was left wondering, how can tinkering with taxes provide the healthcare people need?

Think of healthcare dollars actually caring for health rather than gobbled up by profit-taking insurance companies. Think of healthcare dollars actually treating and preventing disease with generic drugs and negotiated prices rather than diverted to the same brand name drugs with prices protected by government. Eliminating these hungry giants would save enough to provide healthcare for all Americans.

If a handshake meant something, we would not be the only industrialized country in the world without universal healthcare.
