Denham is being selfish
It is a shame that Sen. Jeff Denham, R-Merced, places
self-promotion above his constituents.
He needs to pay attention to the voters and pass the current
budget. The blind, elderly, and disabled are standing at his
doorstep. It is reprehensible that Mr. Denham does not see them. It
appears Mr. Denham’s mirror is too large to allow him to view
anyone but himself.

Blame the sewer – again
Many faith-based folks believe that time began when God created the universe as described in Genesis. Those who hold to a more science-based view usually place the beginning of time with the Big Bang. However, the people of Hollister know the truth; our current time system really began with the Sewer Moratorium (called the SM).
According to our city officials, nothing existed and nothing counts before the Sewer Moratorium and that powerful force is also responsible for every failure of local government from God’s creation (or the Big Bang) until the present.
A perfect example is the Hollister Airport. The airport could be, and should be, a source of economic development for the city that desperately needs some, but it’s been allowed to languish for decades while the city diverts or delays airport cash flows to make up for other deficit spending. Everyone loves to call it “a diamond in the rough.” So what’s the reason Hollister hasn’t turned that rough diamond into jewelry? You guessed it, the SM.
The other night a developer, after months of trying, was finally permitted to present their airport development proposal. When they had finished a couple of other developers joined the cause, “me too, me too.” It wasn’t more than five minutes until the city explained that the real reason they had not done anything on airport development was the all-powerful SM. Some of the things the city had not done were to solicit airport development proposals or even specify a process for evaluating and approving them. You might find that unbelievable at this late date, but it’s true – or is it that the airport just appeared at its current location last Wednesday through an SM time warp?
