Grand jury a worthy venture
I write to encourage the readers to apply for service on the
2009-10 San Benito County Grand Jury that begins July 1. As a past
grand juror, I found that participating had at least three
exceptional benefits not usually available to ordinary
citizens.
First, members have direct input into both the judicial and
governmental functions of the county. Second, they gain a
significantly enhanced understanding of both the judicial system in
the county and of the operations and personnel involved in local
government. The third benefit is the opportunity to work with other
citizens who want what is best for the community.
Applications are available at the San Benito County Courthouse,
Room 205.

Ladies Tea a success

Thanks to all who made the Hollister United Methodist annual Ladies Tea such a success. The turnout was enthusiastic; the food decadent; the auction items numerous and tempting. Special thanks to the businesses who donated items: Best of Times Cafe, Designing Women, Drapoel, Thyme Deli, Country Rose Gallery and Frame, McKinnon Lumber, Pennywise Drugs, Premiere Cinemas, and She’s. We are already looking forward to next year’s tea!
