TP a tourist town? Hogwash!
Last week’s story about the proposed Tres Pinos Hotel article
was misleading, and critical facts about the project were
omitted.
The story incorrectly reports that the hotel is planned for
downtown Tres Pinos. In actuality, Mr. Eade is trying to bully his
project through in a residential area. It is entirely surrounded by
single-family homes and the children’s bike path to our school. We
don’t want a 44-room hotel in our front yard, and we have yet to
meet someone who would!
The article compares San Juan Bautista tourism to Tres Pinos.
This is ridiculous! We have no mission or historical public
buildings. No quaint shops or San Andreas Fault line. No wineries,
either. Tres Pinos has a mini-mart, a few restaurants, a bar, a
feed store, and a post office. Tourists are not beating our doors
down looking for a hotel.
Mr. Eade’s lot is zoned R1 (Single-Family Residential), still
has no water or sewer service, or adequate fire protection.
San Juan Oaks already has the green light to go ahead with their
200-room hotel. Tourists will happily stay there and play golf and
maybe go winetasting in the nearby Cienega Valley. Redundantly
adding a hotel in Tres Pinos in a residential area is simply
Dumb-and-Dumber planning.
Mr. Eade’s

bulldozing

of a peaceful residential neighborhood to put in a 44-room hotel
is not a good way to jumpstart the tourist industry in San Benito
County.

Angry about immigration protests

I am not sure which upset me more.

On May 1, Law Day, a group of pro-illegal aliens displayed the American Flag inverted next to the Mexican flag on the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets.

On April 25, District Attorney John Sarsfield called (in another publication) the group of individuals that publicly show support for our troops on the same corner “a bunch of bigots.”

That is not the way to win friends and influence people.

Injury gives cause for thanks

I recently sustained an injury to my back that has required hospitalization and, thanks to some amazing medical technology, surgery to repair the damage to my spine. I am happy to report that I am home from the hospital and well on my way to recovery.

There are a number of people I’d like to thank for helping me through this experience.

My family has been with me and has been my main support system from the start.

My doctor, Peter Coelho, did a wonderful job of directing my care, diagnosing the problem and pointing me toward a solution.

The staff at Hazel Hawkins Hospital was extremely helpful during my stay there. They are a caring group of people.

The physicians and staff at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco, where I went to have the kyphoplasty procedure that repaired the damage in my spine, were first class.

The hard-working employees at Enterprise Electric has done a fine job of running the business in my absence. I appreciate their professionalism.

I’m very grateful to my many friends and customers of Enterprise Electric who have visited, sent cards or called me on the phone. Your support and concern speeds my recovery.

To all of you, my most heartfelt thanks.

China will import our beef

Sometimes in business you don’t get a second chance. I hope the cattlemen realize this. China is going to import our U.S. beef. It’s for them and the USDA to see no mad cow disease now and in the future.

They cannot afford to stumble or have a lapse of memory again.
