After weeks of public and expert testimony, the bipartisan
Budget Conference Committee drafted what I believe is a responsible
approach to balancing the budget that includes an appropriate mix
of cuts, revenues and other solutions.
This responsible, balanced approach is what we need to get
California through these difficult times.
Now, I need your help. Please contact the governor and urge him
to support the legislative budget proposal that acknowledges the
need to reduce expenditures, but also preserves the social safety
net and investments in education and infrastructure.
I have created a sample letter to the governor that you can sign
and send (and give to friends). You may also consider sending a
letter to the editor of your favorite newspaper or online news
service.
I would encourage you to take this sample and modify it by
expressing any additional concerns you may have regarding the state
budget. You may also contact the governor’s office via his Web site
at www.gov.ca.gov/interact.
