Hotel belongs in Tres Pinos

After reading in the Pinnacle on Sept. 21 Jamie Frusetta’s letter to the editor about wanting the facts known why Tres Pinos shouldn’t build a hotel, I’ll give her the most important reason of all why it should: growth. It’s not 1918 any more. We are in the year 2007. Everything changes with time, people, places and things.

Tres Pinos will be growing like all the other communities, like it or not. You even mentioned yourself the 400-plus housing development on the northwest edge of town, a 99-house development southeast edge of town plus commercial development in the center of town.

Like it or not Ms. Frusetta, Tres Pinos will be growing in the near future and a hotel will most likely be needed and built.

Example: in 1927 when I was born at 946 Prune St. there were not sidewalks and there was an orchard across the street from where I lived and was born. Through the years development began and to this day continues. Nothing ever stays the same. Time changes everything.

One last thing: years ago (I can’t remember the exact date) coming into town in Tres Pinos on your left hand side was a hotel for years. Did you know that, Ms. Frusetta? Research it if you must. See if I’m right.

Measure T and crime

So I see Marvin Jones is opposing Measure T because he believes that taxpayers are being asked too much. Interesting that Mr. Jones is one of the biggest supporters for having taxpayers pay billions and billions of dollars on the war in Iraq. For me, I am going to vote yes on Measure T because the small amount of tax I will pay will help fight crime right here in Hollister where it is needed.

The amount of extra tax that I will pay is well worth the value I will receive knowing that we have a chance of reducing gang violence right here in Hollister.

And the small amount of extra tax that I will pay more than justifies the security I will feel knowing we will have a safer community. For me, Measure T will produce a much greater return in providing a safe environment than the billions I am spending on the Iraq war.

Stop the Iraq insanity

Generals serve the president, not the American people. We have to ask Congress not to betray us and not betray our brave armed forces stuck in the Iraq quagmire. $190 billion to continue the sacrifice of American lives to privatize Iraqi oil. Congress is our only hope to stop this insanity now!
