DMB Proposal Should Have Everyone’s Support
DMB Proposal Should Have Everyone’s Support

Editor,

We want to extend our thanks to Ray Becker of DMB for keeping the public informed about the proposed El Rancho San Benito project. DMB’s open communications and encouragement for community participation is admirable. We attended the public forums that addressed the various aspects of the project. We’ve also read the articles in your paper that discussed various issues about El Rancho San Benito. We found both the meetings and your articles to be very interesting. The recent article about transportation demonstrates how all the issues seem to be receiving their due attention. It is to everyone’s advantage to have a project of this scope being handled in such an open and honest manner.

DMB’s apparent sensitivity to county families that have been involved in farming and ranching, along with the proposed “Legacy Fund,” indicates that DMB seems to be attempting to approach this project comprehensively and take into consideration everyone in our community.

Growth in San Benito County is inevitable. Growth that results in a community that retains its character and provides a better life style for its citizens will require good planning, broad participation and cooperation. Whether you agree with DMB or not, they have demonstrated their desire for these qualities in this project. With this level of participation and cooperation, we would expect this project to be an enhancement to San Benito County.

We’ve yet to decide how we would support the El Rancho San Benito project, but we’re keeping our minds open to a new concept for San Benito County that is considerate of who we are today and where we want to be tomorrow.
