The Hollister Little Hitmen 8-and-under travelling baseball
team, representing Hollister Baseball Academy, made it to the
championship game in the Cal Ripken tournament in Fresno on July
9-11.
The Hollister Little Hitmen 8-and-under travelling baseball team, representing Hollister Baseball Academy, made it to the championship game in the Cal Ripken tournament in Fresno on July 9-11.

Comprised of 12 Hollister Little Leaguers from the Minor AA and Farm A levels, the squad won four out of its first five games before losing to Visalia 4-3 in the final. The team was coached by Ron Fhurong, Rod George and Marty Bueno.

The Little Hitmen outscored their opponents 35-14 in the tournament behind pitchers Tyler Fhurong, Tony Diaz, Nathan Alvarez, Andrew Breen, Cade Vallejo and Dylan Yamasaki.

Each player had at least two hits. Hollister batted .384 as a team, led by Vallejo at .750, Ben Cobb at .545 and Diaz and Connor Fabing at .428.

Alvarez and Daniel Gonzales hit .363 in the tourney, Cody Freitas and Andrew Breen hit .357, Fhurong hit .333, and Josh George batted .300. Yamasaki and Tony Amaral contributed two hits apiece.
