Two Hollister-based nonprofits are bringing home winter grants that help disadvantaged children have positive holiday experiences.
This is the third year the Intero Foundation Inc., which is affiliated with Intero Real Estate Services, Inc., has given holiday grants. Of the $15,100 offered to six nonprofits in San Jose, Hollister and Morgan Hill this winter season, two San Benito County groups are taking home more than half of the money, or $7,600. The local beneficiaries are:
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of San Benito: This group trains advocates to uphold the rights of neglected and abused children in foster care. The nonprofit was launched in 2007. The group was awarded $4,600 to assist with a holiday project that will provide gifts to 90 foster children.
Chamberlain’s Children Center: This Hollister-based nonprofit empowers at-risk children to lead successful, happy lives. The nonprofit received $3,000 for their Children’s Christmas Experience program, which allows foster children living in their residential facility to go on a Kohl’s shopping trip during the holidays.
