Local businesses and artistans hosted a Shop Hop Dec. 3, in hopes of promoting shopping within the San Benito Community. As part of the promotion, which included nearly 50 businesses or artisans from Hollister and San Juan Bautista, the local businesses had such an enthusiastic showing during the event that they have planned to have the “buy local” day twice a year. The Spring Hop will be the first Saturday in May, May 5, 2012.

    As part of the promotion, the businesses and artisans donated goods and gift certificate for gift baskets. The customers were able to drop their name in a box for a drawing that was held last week at Marich Confectionery. There were more than 722 entries for the 11 baskets that included such items as candy, olive oil, wine and more.

    The baskets were available for pick up beginning on Dec. 10. Below are the names of the people who won baskets and the location at which they can pick up the basket, if they haven’t already picked it up.
