City Hall

Mayor Ignacio Velazquez will have one opponent, Keith Snow, in his reelection bid on the November ballot.
Velazquez, owner of American Electrical Services, qualified to run for a second, two-year term as Hollister’s first mayor elected by the entire citizenry. Snow, a retired engineer and heavy equipment operator, qualified as well and will face off against Velazquez for a second time.
In 2012, Velazquez gained 40.37 percent of the vote. Former Councilman Doug Emerson came in second with 27.94 percent, followed by retired engineering manager and Free Lance columnist Marty Richman with 15.74 percent and Snow with 15.43 percent.
Velazquez and Snow each qualified to run before the Friday deadline for candidates seeking open seats on the November ballot.
Others who qualified to run for open council seats included Mickie Solorio Luna and Vickie Montoya facing each other in District 2, along with Karson Klauer and Robert Scattini facing off in District 3.
