Injury was added to insult with eight minutes to play in Wednesday’s Tri-County Athletic League boys soccer match between Hollister High and host Gilroy.

Baler goalie Jorge Medina strained a ligament in his ankle and will probably miss the Balers’ match at North Salinas on Friday.

The Balers also lost their second league game in as many days, being blanked by a talented Gilroy side 2-0.

“Gilroy had two outstanding players,” said Baler head coach Michael Warner. “They’re a better team than Live Oak.”

The Balers (3-2-1, 0-2 T-CAL) lost to the Acorns on Tuesday 3-1.

“Gilroy took us out of the game,” said Warner. “They led 2-0 at halftime and dominated us for 30 minutes of the second half. We tried to switch the lineup around in the second half to get things going. We’re going to show the team a tape of the Live Oak game. We’re not filling the lanes and not supporting like we should. That long layoff killed us. We played so much better in the preseason. We had better get it together soon.”
