Just four months after Hollister hosted what was believed to be its first-ever mixed martial arts event, organizers are set to go with a second go-round into the local MMA scene with War 2.

The MMA event, promoted by Central Coast Throwdown and Main Street Kickboxing, will be held Friday night at the Veterans Memorial Building, located at 649 San Benito Street in downtown Hollister.

The event is scheduled to feature 13 bouts, including a main event between Hollister’s Francisco Aviles (1-1-0-0) and Santa Maria’s Anthony Topas (0-1-0-0).

Tickets will cost $30 for the event, and can be purchased at Main Street Kickboxing in Hollister, Big Joe’s BBQ in Salinas, or at the DJ Booth in Salinas. VIP info, meanwhile, can be had by calling (831) 580-7868, or by going online to: www.ccthrowdown.com

Fights for Friday’s event will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.

There are 12 other scheduled fights on the card, including three that involve fighters from Hollister.

Santino Stagi (1-0-0-0) of Hollister will battle Eric Bates (0-0-0-0) of San Jose; Hollister’s Cris Barber (6-0-0-0) and Johnathan Chaplin (6-2-0-0) of East Palo Alto will square off; while local Cory Martinez will make his debut against Marina’s Justin McClain.

Each Hollister fighter trains at Main Street Kickboxing.

Other fights scheduled for Friday night include Eric Lopez against Steven Cooper; Angelo Henry against Eli Alva; James Stafford against Josh Johnson; Paradise Vaovasa against Sean Baker; Marcus Crandall against Charles Porter; Jonathan Williams against Matt Perez; Richard Lee Delfin against Casey Jackson; Andres Alcantar against Lee Lopez; and Eric Prado against Nikko Jackson.

War 2 comes nearly four months after event promoters held Fightin’ on the Faultline at the Veterans Memorial Building, which took place Jan. 8 and was greeted with capacity crowds.
