Another flu vaccination station will soon be at a location near you.

Before the virus drops you to your knees, the staff of San Benito Home Health Care is offering flu vaccinations for $20 at different San Benito County locations from Oct. 29 to Nov. 17.

The program is sponsored by the San Benito Health Care District, which includes Hazel Hawkins Hospital and its convalescent hospitals, the Home Health Care Agency and the Community Health Clinic.

“It’s recommended for just about everybody, especially seniors,” said Kathy Dudgeon, executive director of San Benito Home Health Care.

The only restriction is that children under 12 cannot receive the shots, she said.

The station will be set up at Nob Hill Pharmacy Oct. 29, Oct. 31, Nov. 5, 6, 12 and 19; at the Senior Center Oct. 30 and Nov. 6; at Windmill Market in San Juan Bautista Nov. 7; at Community Health Clinic Nov. 9 and 16; and at Trinity Lutheran Church Nov. 17. For times or other information, call the appropriate location.

Dudgeon said the Center for Disease Control highly recommends a flu vaccination. Some people, she said, shy away from vaccinations for fear of experiencing symptoms of the virus soon after the shot.

“You can have minor symptoms of a cold,” she said. “But they won’t last very long.”

Medicare will be billed at no additional charge if people bring their cards, Dudgeon said.
