A motorcycle crashed into a school bus full of children early
Wednesday morning at 1611 Wright Road in Hollister, resulting in
the death of the unidentified man on the bike.
None of the children, who were on their way to Marguerite Maze
Middle School, were injured in the accident. The bus driver was
also not injured.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. when the man driving a blue Buell Firebolt motorcycle crashed into the rear back-right tire of the bus, which had stopped to pick up a child on the rural Hollister road, according to witnesses at the scene and a dent on the bus apparently caused by the motorcycle.
The California Highway Patrol arrived shortly after and pronounced him dead at the scene. The man appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s, which became evident when a CHP officer quickly lifted and re-covered a sheet on his face. The race of the man is unknown.
It is unknown whether any kids on the bus visually witnessed the crash. Though one girl seated toward the back said, “We just heard the noise.”
After a short investigation at the scene by the CHP, a second school bus arrived at about 7:45 to take the kids to school.
Six CHP officers were on the scene, including Capt. Bob Davies, along with an officer with the Sheriff’s Department.
As of press time, they had declined comment until the investigation revealed more information about the accident.
More information about the accident will be released today, according to the CHP.
Early morning fog and hazy conditions might have contributed to the accident.
