Democrats are dismayed by the candidacy of Ralph Nader, but it’s their own fault. John Kerry loves to talk about saving America from special interest, but he’s taken more money from them than anyone else in the Senate. Kerry loves to denounce the PATRIOT Act and the Iraq war, but they each passed Congress with his blessing. The Democratic Party has been so busy trying to win elections they forgot to stand for something. They don’t see that, though. They actually believe what went wrong in 2000 is that Ralph Nader ran for president. Democrats would rather limit the choices Americans have so that they can win over liberal votes without doing anything in return. Every liberal in this country should be insulted by this, and it seems that many of them are. If the left truly wants to be heard, it can only be done through supporting Ralph Nader. A strong showing for Nader will either force the Democratic Party to stick by its liberal base, or get it replaced by a new party that will.
