There’s an event worth taking the time to attend Tuesday night.
It is well worth it
– for you, your children and the community.
From 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, San Benito County’s seventh annual
National Night Out will be held to educate and strengthen police
and community partnerships. Organized at the local level by the
Hollister Police Department, this community-oriented event will
take place in the park at the corner of Fourth and San Benito
streets.
There’s an event worth taking the time to attend Tuesday night. It is well worth it – for you, your children and the community.
From 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, San Benito County’s seventh annual National Night Out will be held to educate and strengthen police and community partnerships. Organized at the local level by the Hollister Police Department, this community-oriented event will take place in the park at the corner of Fourth and San Benito streets.
And from 5 p.m. to dark, the first National Night Out event will be held in San Juan Bautista at the lawn in front of the Mission San Juan.
During the past six years, the local National Night Out has attracted more and more people, and this year, expect hundreds to stop by for the good of their community. What you’ll learn is priceless.
Along with the HPD, the Hollister Fire Department, California Department of Forestry, other area law enforcement agencies, service agencies and businesses will provide valuable information and tips about crime, alcohol, drug and fire prevention. Also, fingerprinting of your children and low-priced bicycle helmets for sale will be available.
But what this event is really about is us as a community, taking part, participating, making it a better place – being aware.
It’s designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community ties and send a message that neighborhoods are organized and able to fight crime.
And, guess what? We will not be alone.
Tuesday night will mark the 20th annual National Night Out that will be celebrated across the country and beyond. Last year, nearly 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide participated. In all, 33 million people took part.
And it gets even easier to become involved. If you can’t make it to the park by the Briggs Building or to San Juan Bautista, National Night Out organizers are asking residents throughout the county and across the nation to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with their neighbors.
For the good of your children, yourself and your neighborhood and community, find the time Tuesday night.
