He was released from a Bay Area hospital Monday morning after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 concussion. A CT scan was negative. He did not make the trip to Denver for Monday night’s game with the Nuggets.
Ellis left Sunday night’s loss to visiting Sacramento with 58.9 seconds left after slamming his head on the hardwood.
On a drive to the basket, he was undercut by Sacramento big man DeMarcus Cousins, who was trying to take a charge. Ellis staggered noticeably when he tried to get up and walk. He had to be helped off the court and left the game without taking his free throws.
Ellis finishes the season averaging 24.1 points, 5.6 assists and 2.1 steals. He is the first Warrior to average at least 24 points in consecutive seasons since Hall of Famer Chris Mullin, who did so for five consecutive seasons from 1989-93.
Ellis also led the league in minutes per game, 40.3, and shot a career-best 36.1 percent from 3-point range.
