The Pinnacles National Monument will be celebrating its 100th
year with a Centennial Weekend celebration this Friday through
Sunday.
The programs that will be offered are as follows: condor
reintroduction; raptor monitoring; red-legged frogs and amphibians;
bats; and invasive plant education, according to the press release.
Cultural programs also will be offered.
Pinnacles set for centennial weekend
The Pinnacles National Monument will be celebrating its 100th year with a Centennial Weekend celebration this Friday through Sunday.
The programs that will be offered are as follows: condor reintroduction; raptor monitoring; red-legged frogs and amphibians; bats; and invasive plant education, according to the press release. Cultural programs also will be offered.
They will include living history demonstrations from the San Juan Bautista Mountain Men and the Pajaro Valley Ohlone Indian Council. Landscape Historian Timothy Babalis will present two talks on the early history of Pinnacles, according to the release.
Spring is the busiest time of year at the Pinnacles, with abundant wildflowers and comfortable hiking temperatures. Carpooling and riding park shuttles are encouraged for this event. Two shuttles will be running on the east side of the monument from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend these programs, or talk to park staff, partners and volunteers.
