Community support, funding among top themes at library forum
Community leaders this week discussed possible solutions to revamp the library system in San Benito County at a forum, where local officials on a panel committed their support to finding more revenue streams and updating the 60-year old library.

Since the 1960's, the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District has worked to protect open space in northwestern Santa Clara County and southern San Mateo County. Twenty years ago, realizing the need to extend protection to the rest of Santa Clara County, the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority was created by an act of the California legislature. They have been busy ever since.
Another ‘Internet cafe’ busted
The Gilroy Bizzness Center opened its doors as an ‘Internet café’ Oct. 18 and was promptly shut down seven days later when the Gilroy Police Department raided the store for “illegal gambling.”

FDA again warns of tainted pet treats
A dangerous problem in tainted pet treats has veterinarians and pet owners more worried than ever. And now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is asking anyone whose pet has become sick after eating treats - sold as jerky tenders or strips made of chicken, duck, sweet potatoes or dried fruit - to report it.
