‘Shrek the Musical’ opens Friday at Granada

The San Benito Stage Company will be filling the Granada Theatre stage with fairytale creatures starting on Friday for its run of “Shrek the Musical.” The show runs weekends through July 27, with tickets available at Postal Graphics and San Benito Bene.

Wildfire readiness campaign underway

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) has launched a website, which the agency has been advertising to motorists headed up the eastern hills of Morgan Hill in recent weeks, advising residents on how to keep their homes and their neighbors safe from the threat of wildfires during the summer.

Kids rock the stage

As the temperature kicked up last week so did the anticipation for the fun-filled week of Kids Rule Theatre Camp. Kristy Burchard, the founder and director of the program, and her team of volunteering teens and adults were ready to rock another summer of phenomenal performances. After much preparation, everyone was ready to kick off the program’s 11th year at Sacred Heart Parish School. Many of the people who helped make this program possible can be described as one big theatrical family. I was extremely fortunate to be part of this family once again as a camp counselor for one of the groups.

A band of law enforcement agencies seized more than 10,000 illegal marijuana plants with alleged links to the Mexican cartel from steep terrain of Henry Coe State Park on Wednesday afternoon.

County management still holds onto 7,300 hours in vacation time

County management and confidential employees reduced banked vacation time by 10 percent since the last update to the supervisors in December. Last spring, supervisors voted to limit vacation accrual to two times the annual accrual rate for employees.
