Ambitious regional park plan tops out at $40 million
The plan for a county regional park – put together based on input gathered from the community since 2012 – comes with a $37 million to $40 million price tag that would include all the amenities desired by residents and members of an advisory committee.

Body found on Hwy. 25 with no suspicious circumstances
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of a body along Highway 25 June 11. Sgt. Tony LaMonica said Monday no suspicious circumstances were involved when they found a 37-year-old Hollister man in a field near the railroad tracks along Highway 25.
Police seize 101 more cockfighting birds from Fairview Road home
Police and animal control officers Friday seized 101 birds they say were raised for cockfighting at a residence where authorities seized 120 birds in December that were also suspected of being used for cockfighting, according to the Hollister Police Department.
