Family seeks owner after daughter’s dog bite
Michele Cameron, the mother of a 12-year-old daughter bit by a dog at Ridgemark Thursday evening, is pleading with the owner of the dog to come forward so that her daughter will not have to undergo a painful series of rabies vaccinations on Monday.

Ft. Benito Cub Scout camp held at Bolado
The Ft. Benito Cub Scout Day Camp is held at Bolado Park across the highway from the fairgrounds. This the 28th anniversary of the day camp and more than 100 cub scouts participated this year. They were able to participate in activities such as B.B. gun shooting, archery, woodworking, leather craft, swimming, carving, nature hikes, science experiments, learning how to tie knots, rehearsing skits, and an overnight campout, among other activities.

Student challenges classmates to raise pennies for puppies
Jayna Navarro, a fifth-grade student at Sunnyslope Elementary School, has just 10 percent sight in one of her eyes and is blind in the other. She had a vision of working with her fellow classmates to raise money for The Seeing Eye – a foundation that breeds, raises and trains seeing-eye dogs for the blind with the support of donations.
