Briefs: Gavilan trustee to be honored

Gavilan College Trustee Laura Perry will be honored for providing over 20 years of service as a trustee of California’s community colleges. She will be recognized at the 2013 Annual Trustees Conference in May 2013. Laura Perry was first elected to the Gavilan College Board of Trustees in 1992 from the community of Morgan Hill, and is now Gavilan's longest-serving trustee. Perry is an attorney, and an alumna of Gavilan College.

Sharing the farm way with students

Jorge Diaz, the homeless man accused in the March 2011 homicide of 72-year-old Francisco Rojas at a Hollister cemetery, was sentenced to six years in prison and, with credits, is scheduled to serve about 28 months.
