Theater enthusiasts honored at annual event
The San Benito Stage Company held its annual Members Choice Awards Jan. 28, at the Granada Theatre, in Hollister. The annual event is a chance for members to vote on their favorite productions from the season. Directors, producers actors and those who help behind the scenes are all honored at the event with awards given out in more than 30 categories.
Red Phone: Union Road reflectors aren’t reflecting much
A resident called the Red Phone this week to complain about areas on Union Road between San Benito Street and Highway 156 where the reflectors don't seem to be working all that well. He noted that there had been some paving done to the roads and said some of the reflectors don't do much reflecting these days.
County weighs tax district for parks, library
The San Benito County supervisors gave direction to the county parks and recreation commissioners to begin hosting public meetings to look at options for a community services district that would fund future projects.

Pot shop adds vending to the mix, hopes to market machines
The embattled Purple Cross Rx medical marijuana dispensary on Bolsa Road - which this week was sued by the county in an effort to get it to close its doors for good - is hoping to expand its business model by marketing marijuana vending machines to pharmacies, medical facilities and dispensaries throughout California.
