Gilroy outshot San Benito by one stroke Wednesday at Ridgemark’s Gabilan Course.

Gilroy had a 216, San Benito had a 217 and Live Oak had a 238.

“The stroke could have came from anyone,” said Baler coach Mark Tinder. “It is a team effort. We need to forget about the past hole and focus on the current one.”

Curtis Rhodes double-bogeyed his last two holes, and Chase Graves double-bogeyed his final three holes.

Chris Shackleton, started out with a double bogey, but ended with a 39.

“Our team will take one or two bogey or higher and get down on themselves which causes us to continue to lose strokes,” Tinder said. “We need to snap out of it and realize every stroke is important. It was the prime example of what one stroke over five players and nine holes can do. Sometimes we have to grind to get the score, but we can’t give up on our game.”

Josh Zgragen had a 41 after starting off with a birdie.

“He is hitting the ball well from tee to green, but he is struggling on the green with his putter,” Tinder said.

Dan Isaacson shot a 45, and Wesley Nelson had a non-qualifying 48.
