San Benito Babe Ruth had Opening Night last Friday at Veterans
Memorial Park in Hollister, and the defending champion Athletics
picked up where it left off, defeating the White Sox 11-3 to open
the 53rd season of the league.
Two Senior Babe Ruth teams (16-18-years-old) provided the night
cap, as the Expos topped Team Hollister 8-3, with starting pitching
Anthony Alvarez hurling a complete game with 12 strikeouts.
Two games followed on Saturday, when the Cardinals upended the
Giants 5-2 and the Rockies downed the Tigers 9-2, while four more
games were played on Sunday. The Athletics defeated the Cardinals
8-6, the Tigers beat the Giants 11-1, the Rockies edged the White
Sox 5-3, while Team Hollister avenged its loss to the Expos with a
9-4 victory behing home runs from Adrian Diaz and Trevor
Gessell.
