Guest View: October Olive Fest is a team effort
Having grown up with a food-loving family or “foodie” family, trust me when I say I have learned to appreciate food. Whenever my family gets together in the kitchen, there is never a dull moment with conversations over pots and pans. Sharing delicious and authentic food with loved ones is a feeling unlike any other and this is pretty much why I have a deep love for fresh and yummy food.
Letter: Reader says Happy Retirement to Geri Johnson
In a recent issue of the Free Lance, I noticed a letter from our recently retired Hollister City Clerk Geri Johnson, thanking all who helped with the 4th of July celebration committee. This brought to mind: Just how many residents of Hollister know of how much this wonderful lady has cheerfully done for all of us? As a valuable city employee, I wonder if we all ever know of her accomplishments in addition to her formalized duties.

Guest View: Cattlewomen elect officers
The election of officers for the San Benito County CattleWomen took place in December 2014. Those elected for the 2015-16 year were: Jae Eade, president; Heather Callens, vice president; Charlotte Cabral, secretary; and Marie Pera, treasurer. The directors elected were Sherry Holiday, Dianne Rodrigues and Sandy Williams. Helen Mautlich is state delegate. Jamii Pura was elected beef promotion chairman and Martha Tobias, parliamentarian.
