Letter: Claim filer upset about city’s response
This is a case of neglect, accident and responsibility. It’s no secret our city streets are in complete disrepair. Recently, I tripped in a pot hole and fell face down on an asphalt city street, causing injuries, losses and damages. I reported my accident to the city clerk the following day. The clerk saw my injuries, asked the location of the accident and provided me with a claim form to complete. Also, within one and a half days of returning my claim, the city public works went to the location and filled all pot holes and cracks on the street. This act on the city’s part tells me they’ve admitted guilt, culpability and responsibility for their negligence.
Letter: Snow a ‘great asset’ to people
My name is Mary Jimenez and I am a Hollister resident. I endorse Keith Snow for mayor because: he is a great asset to the people of Hollister. When meeting him, he has a great heart and I can tell he is looking out for the people of the community. I love the fact that despite being disabled, he had not given up. That shows true dedication in my eyes. With inspiration like this, he can help a lot of people in our community. We need someone like him in office. Someone who truly cares about what goes on in the city, someone who is going to stand up for what is right and I believe Keith is that someone. I appreciate you taking the time to review my letter for endorsement. God bless.

This week’s editorial in the Free Lance regarding the bogus ads put out by the Oil Industry against Measure J was more than welcome, it was inspiring. This restores my faith in small-town newspapers and their role in advancing the cause of democracy.
