Marty: A General Mess with the General Plan
The San Benito County General Plan Update has become a general mess and the blame has to fall, primarily, on supervisors. After pouring tons of money and effort into the program for at least three years the board has, essentially, fired the primary consultant and gone back to fighting over settled issues. The only purpose of having a General Plan is the “plan” part, where the county plans for its future. There is now a proposal to strip the plan of any value using bad management as the excuse – we simply can’t afford to do it right.
