Letter: Housing crisis needs a functioning city council
Re: Hollister council rebukes another colleague, Free Lance, May 19
If a fire occurs inside a movie theatre, the sound system does not advise attendees to remain seated. We understand the alarm must be sounded and exits opened for safety. Similarly at the May 15...
Letter: Mayor’s ‘gifts’ defy true holiday spirit
The little Drummer Boy tunefully beats a rhythm to find the true spirit of Christmas. But like or unlike the little drummer boy, I’m wondering if the mayor’s year-long gifts are in the true spirit of Christmas. True giving is giving without expecting a...
Letter: Reader calls candidate a ‘breath of fresh air’
Ignacio Velazquez is the right choice for Hollister mayor. His personal and business success add to his many characteristics that make him the roadway to a thriving Hollister economy. He understands that investing in our local economy is the answer to a balanced budget and staffing public safety. In fact, he has gained the support and endorsement of our Hollister Firefighters and supports our Public Safety. Ignacio is unafraid to stand up to adversity and make a stand for what is right. Velazquez opposes the Measure E tax and will tackle the difficult task of cleaning up the mismanagement of tax funds and poorly performing City management. Status quo in Hollister is unacceptable and Ignacio Velazquez is the breath of fresh air Hollister has been gasping for.

Fares won't cover 1 percent of operating expenses, estimated at $1 billion per year. Bond debt will bury us.
